Disposition Authorities for Individual Classifications for Headquarters Case Files. Part B: Classification 153. Automobile Information Disclosure Act.

This classification was established in 1958 under the Automobile Information Disclosure Act (PL 85-506). The Bureau investigated violations of the law which required car dealers to make full disclosure of information such as make and model, assembly point, retail priace, and transportation charge.

The FBI established this classification when it assumed responsibility for ascertaining the protection capabilities and weaknesses of defense plants. Each plant survey was a separate case file, with the survey, supplemental surveys, and all communications dealing with a plant insofar as plant protection was concerned, filed together.
